In statements here, the spokesman of the Secretary-General of the UNO, Stephane Dujarric, assured the press that Ban Ki-Moon analyzes the agreement announced on Monday, between the European Union (EU) and the government of Ankara, and endorses the declarations of agencies specialized on the topic.
As much the United Nations Fund for Children (UNICEF) as the UN High Commissioner for the Refugees (UNHCR) showed worry for the impact of the measurements in the human rights of the migrants, most of them victims of conflicts in the Middle East and the North of Africa.
"We are in line with its position," said Dujarric.
The EU and Turkey agreed to return all the undocumented people who have arrived in Europe through the Turkish national territory, including the Syrian citizens running away form the war.
UNHCR said the agreement to stop the migratory flux might violate the European Convention of Human Rights, which forbids the collective expulsion of foreigners.
For its part, UNICEF asked the EU to do things in order "not to harm people".
"We ask authorities in Europe, the Balkans and Turkey to keep this in mind in each step, especially in the case of children, refugees and migrants", it said.
